Abby Zellar 3/12/11
Scooter was badly injured on 11/23/10 when he sustained a 280 degree
laceration across the back of his right front foot. He cut both
digital arteries as well during this injury. He spent a week at
the Glenwood Springs Vet Hospital, then was sent home in a cast
which he wore for 2 weeks. He has been being bandaged and wrapped
since then until present while he continues to heal.
This injury took a heavy toll on Scooters physical health as he
lost a lot of blood and didn't have much of an appetite and was
exhibiting symptoms of gastric ulcers. Due to this he lost and incredible
amount of weight and his mental status became very unpredictable
as he elicited many mannerisms that he did not before the injury
such as smashing into his stall panels, biting and acting just plain
wild.
As a suggestion from Ellen Archer and KC Binger we started Scooter
on the POUNDS the day he got his cast of which was December 14,
2010. He never gave us any trouble eating the POUNDS and within
a week his appetite returned, his demeanor returned to almost normal
and we were able to take him off the Gastro Guard medication. The
first pics you see were taken on December 14th when his cast came
off, the 3rd pics is from February 24, 2011 the day we were finally
able to bring Scooter home. He had been stalled at a friends barn
so that he could remain inside.
Proof is in the pictures as to what POUNDS can do. We never changed
Scooters hay or feed in any other way other than adding the POUNDS.
He is only 14 weeks out from his injury, has only two small spots
to skin over and he will be completely healed. I don't think this
process would have been so rapid had we not been feeding him the
POUNDS as his entire body benefited from it.
Our horses will be reaping the benefits from the POUNDS supplement
from now on and I cannot recommend it enough to people who are truly
interested in the welfare of their animals.
